| Hey girls and guys! Being a makeup artist and an esthetician I am a total makeup/product/skin care junkie. I have products everywhere! Yet I am always buying more! Why? Because I feel that being a makeup artist and an esthetician, I am almost obligated to try a lot of different brands and different products to be able to find what's the best. And believe me, I've tried a lot of things! And sometimes, unfortunately, wasted a lot of money! But how else am I suppose to find out for myself what is good and what is not right? (Tell that to my bank account!) I don't know why, but I've always been a skeptic of mineral makeup! Why? I guess I've heard mixed reviews about them. But having been a very loyal patron of MAC's Studio Fix for...I don't know...7 years now...it was very hard for me to let go. Why? Because it's a powder foundation that covered so well. But like shampoo and face wash, using something for a prolonged period of time will lessen the performance of the product. As in your skin and hair gets too used to the ingredients and are almost immune to it, so it stops working as well if at all anymore. Well Studio Fix just felt as though it wasn't working or performing as I wanted my powder/foundation to be working. It wasn't setting as well, wasn't as smooth, got too dry, and I think I was leaning more towards less makeup/naturally healthy looking skin now! Especially now that it's scorching hot outside, who wants their makeup to be melting off right? haha So to make it short, I ordered BareMinerals, i.d. makeup. And after about 2-3 days...I really liked the difference that I saw! My makeup looked more smooth and my skin wasn't flaky. It didn't feel as heavy either yet the coverage is the same (medium to full coverage). Even with the great coverage you get, you actually use LESS, that's why it's recommended you use a brush to buff it on instead of a sponge. My skin looks more radiant even without makeup on because my pores are free to breathe easier now. NO lie! Living in Denver, my dry skin is only worsened by our dry heat. But with Mineral makeup, it actually creates a protective barrier to help retain moisture. So after I saw the difference I've even switched to mineral bronzer and blush! Ok, I am NOT recommending you sleep in your makeup, but we all know we have those days where you just go home and go "I'll just lay her for FIVE minutes and once I'm a lil less tired, I will wash my face" and next thing you know, it's morning! Well, mineral makeup is the next best thing to sleeping with no makeup. So since I've switched to Mineral Makeup, Bronzer, and Blush...onto shadows! I've actually been ordering some of my makeup through this website; www.nixiecosmetics.com . They are pretty much like MAC makeup but BIGGER and LESS expensive! I know right!? Believe me, if you know me, you know I have EVERYTHING MAC makes, and why not? I LOVE MAC! But getting EVERY color gets a little pricey and ridiculous since you eventually skim thru the rest and only use your favorites. Well anyway, I ordered a palette of 6 different shadows (palettes are soooo very convenient ladies, trust me, 10 shadows inside a flat palette takes up so much less space than 10 pots of shadows! Not to mention the ease of finding a color!) and when it came in I of course busted it out of the box and put it to the test right away! Ok, so I was at work and no one really cared what I looked like, but shit, it was for me! Not them! ;) So I've tried these shadows out for you guys. They are just as good as MAC, but did I mention they are MINERAL? They are just as true-to color and vibrant as MAC, BUT...yes MINERAL! If you have dry skin, your eyelid is no exception! Mineral Eye Shadow will be better for you. And yes, it's better on Oily lids too! It absorbs oil so it means less creasing! No more creasing, no more flaking, perfectly setting, vibrant eye shadows that last all day and are good for you! Too good to be true? Well you should try it out for yourself! I promise they are the same quality as MAC's but mineral AND you get more bang for your buck! Nixie's eye shadow refills are 4.4 grams! Compared to MAC's 1.5 grams! That's almost 3 times MORE for only 12.50 (compared to MAC's eye shadow pots for $14.00). They have over hundreds of different cool vibrant colors to chose from. I've ordered their blush, foundation, and concealers and am waiting for them anxiously! :) I will let you guys know how they turn out! If you guys want to order site: www.nixiecosmetics.com 10 % discount code, use at checkout : 1091 I would like your guys' reviews on them too! Love Jo D. |
